Bonded Pairs - I is a binaural recording I made at Pioneer Works on December 28th, 2020— in a quadraphonic speaker array with the installation and recording mangaged by Kyle Keays Hagerman, Federico Escalante, and Matthew Mann. The composition began as material I produced in mono with a Eurorack sythesizer. During the spatial recording the single-channel audio track was processed through IMSYS which gave me 4 discrete channels of spectrally separated material. The re-recording process included several microphone setups to capture the quadraphonic playback and will be used as material for a larger body of spatial work. This sample demonstrates the spatial properties of IMSYS and the added dimension of acoustic properties resulting from multichannel playback in the room.
Algorithmic Chop and Screw
Made in 2016, this track was produced as a byproduct of some work I did with Olivia Erlanger. Olivia was interested in making a software that would automatically generate chopped and screwed remixes, a musical style originated by DJ Screw in the early 90's. The program I made detected transients in the song and would use those moments as opportunities to decide whether a repetition of the last bar would occur, a signature aspect of the form.
